"Publish in Public": The Unconventional Guide to Writing, Drawing, and Publishing Peculiar Children’s Books
Follow along as I write, illustrate, publish, and market strange (and maybe slightly disturbing) children's picture books! All in real time, nothing hidden.
FAQs
Who is Eccentric Picture Book for?
Anyone who likes weird, strange, and hyper-imaginative kids books and wants to watch over my shoulder as I build them in public.
Do kids like slightly disturbing drawings and content that borders on the surreal?
Yes. Yes they do. But these days it's "unsafe" for many publishers to take risks on these kinds of books. That's why I'm working to fill this very important niche which fosters a deeper sense of imagination than "safe" books.
Will I like this newsletter?
If you like nuts and bolts of how to make books, and also like weird, surreal, eccentric story lines and drawings, you'll feel right at home. In fact, you'll probably love it and look forward to this more than most other emails you get weekly.
If you notice a giant bottomless hole opened up in the floor next to your bed, what should you do?
You should grab your backpack, a wind-proof thermos of warm tea, and jump in it. While you are falling you should first sip some tea, then think about how you are going to land, and if you have anything in your backpack that might help.
What happens if I click this final FAQ question?
You should expect a boring but ever so slightly clever answer, even though a pancake has landed on your head. Then you should expect to feel half a smirk on your face (the side you chew on the most), and then say "Hmmmph." Finally, you should expect to put your email address in the "Enter Your Mail" and hit "Subscribe". As you hit the subscribe button, you should expect to hear yourself say "Ha!". Now, say "Ha!". This is what happens when you click this final FAQ question.
